On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the discussion session on the organization of the Decade of Sustainable Development Goals in Benin took place in the conference room of the General Directorate for Coordination and Monitoring of Sustainable Development Goals (DGCS-ODD), located on the 3rd floor of the Espace Dina building at Saint Michel.

Organized by the DGCS-ODD, this session brought together representatives from the Ministries of Decentralization, Interior and Public Security, Environment, Health, and Digital Technology, as well as DGCS-ODD executives and managers. The objective of the session is to share with sectoral ministries the content of the Decade's activities on the SDGs and the practical arrangements to be made by these ministries for better organization of the event.

This session follows other meetings that the DGCS-ODD has held with stakeholders such as the Technical Financial Partners (TFPs), the central structures of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the National Association of Municipalities of Benin (ANCB), and the fifty-two (52) voluntary municipalities applying for the Voluntary Local Reviews (ELV).

the opening of the session was marked by a speech by the Director General for SDG Coordination and Monitoring.

In his address, Mr. Anicet C. Sevoh, Director General for SDG Coordination and Monitoring, expressed his gratitude to the participants and praised their commitment to achieving the SDGs in benin. He recalled that as part of the celebration of ten (10) years of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Benin, the General Directorate for Coordination and Monitoring of the SDGs (DGCS-ODD) plans to mark this event with a milestone by organizing "the Decade of SDGs in Benin." He added that the initiative of the Decade of SDGs in Benin constitutes a unique opportunity to take stock and strengthen the commitment of all stakeholders around the crucial issues of sustainable development. Subsequently, he affirmed that a series of activities will be organized as part of this event and include: (i) the development of ELVs; (ii) the development of municipal frameworks for accelerating the SDGs; (iii) the holding of the second edition of the National Forum on the SDGs (FNODD); and (iv) the Symposium on the Decade of the SDGs: assessment and perspectives. Following this address, the Director General of the SDGs presented the concept note on the organization of the Decade. Through this concept note, he outlined the context, the objectives, the methodology, and the budget.

Following the presentation, participants expressed some concerns, which were addressed by all members of the director general team.
